Pirate fans that attended Thursday nights game verse the Minnesota Twins were treated to a great show. The Bucco's bats came to life again by scoring 9 runs, but that isn't the show I am talking about. I am talking about the James McDonald show.

McDonald stepped onto the field at PNC Park and tossed his first career complete game improving his record this season to 6-3.  While at times it looked like he was starting to struggle he powered through those moments.  He finished with 6 strikeouts, no walks and only gave up one run.  That run came off an RBI single to former Pirate Ryan Doumit.

The run support McDonald received allowed him a certain comfort zone and took some pressure off his shoulders. His teammates, Rod Barajas, Pedro Alvarez, and Garrett Jones each blasted a home run to support his effort.  Alvarez actually sent his 13th home run of the season over the Right Field stands.

This win leaves the Pirates 2 games out of first place in the division with 17 games to go before the All-Star break. Here's hoping the Pirates can continue to compete and put up numbers in the win column well past the All-Star break.
