The Pittsburgh Steelers stayed quiet during the first round of the NFL draft, part of me thought they would make a trade of some kind to move up a few spots. The great thing about the draft is everyone tries to predict whats going to happen but no one ever really can, and that's why I was shocked when David DeCastro fell to the Steelers with pick number 24 in the first round.
DeCastro will be tasked immediately with protecting Ben Roethlisberger who has a lengthy record of injuries, although he tends to play through the pain. DeCastro will also need to step up and help lower the number of sacks that the offensive line allows. Last season the Steelers allowed Roethlisberger to be sacked 42 times! Its no wonder he has such a lengthy list of injuries.
I think the Steelers made a great pick here, one that could potentially make an immediate impact.
The Steelers have 9 more picks in this years draft and they will look to fill several more holes created this off-season.
Stayed tuned for more information on the draft and who the Steelers take. Let the draft continue!!
