With three preseason games standing between the Steelers and their September 9th season opener against the Denver Broncos and Peyton Manning, the Steelers are beginning to make roster adjustments.

In the first preseason game of the year verse the Philadelphia Eagles, Full Back David Johnson injured his ACL and will miss the season. He has since been placed on the waived/injured list and free agent TE Justin Peelle was signed to a one year deal.  Peelle was a 4th round draft pick in 2002 by the San Diego Chargers and has spent time with the Dolphins, Falcons, and most recently the San Francisco 49ers.

Max Starks was activated from the PUP (Physically Unable to Perform) list, a good sign that he is recovered from the ACL injury he sustained last season.

The Steelers also signed undrafted Rookie Jason Ford who had originally signed with the Houston Texans in May.

To make room for the addition of Ford the Steelers placed Running Back John Clay on the waived/injured list.
